Loans and Negotiation Timeline

Hi all,

I received a scholarship offer from one of my lower-tiered schools and I would like to negotiate with my higher-tiered schools, so I can increase the amount and make it a more viable option.

However, the lower-tiered school also advises to complete loan application as soon as possible. I received a full scholarship to my undergrad and masters program, so I am unfamiliar with loans. If I submit a loan application does this equal me accepting the current scholarship amount? Can someone please inform me of how both of these processes work - concurrently?

Your FAFSA is usually totally separate from merit scholarship processing. Unless your paperwork said "By signing this form or by submitting a FAFSA report to [school], you are agreeing to matriculate, etc.," you're fine.
