Likelihood of Merit Aid Increase at Chicago

Post by IceMt » Wed Apr 05, 2017 8:29 pm

Hi All,

UChicago offered me a reasonable scholarship (~50K) and I am very interested, but UVA and Cornell both offered over 100K more and hopefully Penn will come in somewhere in between the two. I've visited all four and I can see myself enjoying each albeit in different ways.

What is the likelihood that I can get Chicago to bump up their offer any? Also, should I wait for a possible Penn offer before I say anything?

An additional consideration is that UVA's deposit deadline is coming up pretty quick. Thanks in advance for your input

Bring UVA's offer (assuming you can't increase it any further through negotiating) to Chicago now to negotiate, let them know about the importance of financial considerations and mitigating debt but stress that Chicago is a top choice for you because blah, blah.
