Columbia and NYU generally don't negotiate with offers from anywhere below Penn, but it can't hurt to try. I'd say that $120k at Michigan would be a more powerful bargaining chip than a full ride at Cornell.

No advice for you, but I was rejected from the Hughes at Cornell, so congrats on making it to the next round!! :)

And if you make any progress negotiating with NYU or CLS please do tell ;) I have the same scholly at Michigan and am also worried I will get $0 initially from the NYC schools.
