The FAFSA is asking me if I want to answer questions about my assets ie checking / savings / other accounts. Is this something I should fill out? I probably have around $30,000 in these accounts all together....

Don't you have to fill it out?

Um, answer truthfully? Not worth it to jack your chances with the c&f evaluation of the bar.

No, like, it's giving me the option to answer questions about my assets or not to do so. not "should i lie about my assets or not".

I know what you're talking about where it seems you don't necessarily have to include this info, but include it. You don't want to get chosen for verification and have to say, oops, yea I forgot about that extra 30,000 I have that could pay my tuition for a year.

I'm pretty sure you have to disclose that for FAFSA anyway. I'd go ahead and get it out there.
