Hey everyone,
So I'm half Mexican (grandparents are from Mexico) but I inherited my father's pasty white skin and last name.
Anyone else in a similar situation worried that admissions officers may think I'm either lying or playing the system? Especially when interviewing for T14 schools.
Any other "white" URMs like me worried about interviews? Forum

Easily solved: Write a diversity statement describing your experiences growing up as a (part) Mexican-American.

There are many people who are full Mexican and are also "white," so anyone who's had a cursory review of either race being a social construct and all that or Latin American history will understand that Mexican folks are not all the same skin tone.

Mexican is not a race, and Mexico is a multi-racial country. There are a lot of full white people in Mexico.

Do you think that would "lessen" how diverse I am? As in I wouldn't get as much as a boost versus someone who's fully Mexican-American?QContinuum wrote:Easily solved: Write a diversity statement describing your experiences growing up as a (part) Mexican-American.
