I'm an AA Male with a 3.5, Accounting Major from #2 accounting program and a CPA. 2-years out of school.

I'm aiming for a 170-172 on the LSAT. What score do I need for top 6?

174/175+ would give you a good chance at H b/c of URM and work experience. YS is likely out of the picture. If you break 173 I think you will have CCN on lock.

the above is bad advice, I don't know if they are saying this because of the new site, which I typically am okay with, but in this circumstance in case any other URM's read this I want to make clear that it is wrong. Try to score as high as you can, but a 3.5 and 170 would put you in a decent position at most of t6 as an male AA, and a chance at HYS. If you score above a 175, you would have about a good a shot as anyone at HYS.

You are right, AA gives you an amazing chance literally anywhere if you get 170.

An AA male with a 3.5 and 175 or (+) has as good a chance as a non-URM 3.95, 175+. ?

yes. But, to be more precise, an URM with a higher GPA and the same LSAT would have a better shot. So a 3.5 175 AA male doesn't have the same shot as a 3.95 175 AA male.

I would expect both of them to get into two of the three however.

John_rizzy_rawls wrote:FWIW, I did some playing around on LSN and found that a 3.55+ and a 172+ is auto-admit at Harvard, based on the last decade's online statistics, 37 admits, 1 denial (that was a 3.8+ GPA - must have been a glaring app weakness/significant C&F issue/PS written in crayon).

Since 2005/2006, those numbers are 100% admit at Harvard, 75% at Yale and 70% at Stanford.
Since the law school bubble burst (2008/2009), those numbers for URMs are 100% Harvard, 80% Yale, 70% Stanford.

If that doesn't give URMs something to shoot for, then I just don't know what is.

Now all there is to do is slay myself for a 2+ point increase on my June 2013 retake. And maintain my 3.6+ GPA. Oy.
If you don't know about URM admissions, don't give advice to URM applicants. OP knock the LSAT out of the park, and you will have an amazing cycle, but you have to score well on the LSAT first. you can get better advice from me in a new place...

So if you got a 165, I can almost guarantee admission at one if the t6, albeit w not much scholarship. At 170, Harvard is getting close to lock-ish, chance at S and Yale us still a long shot because of theor higher GPA floors. Also at 170 you're looking aT possible real money at CCN. Study your ass of bruh, and I'd you don't reach your goals it's almost always worth retaking. Good luck.

Just here to say that opinions on chances on this forum are not all that helpful because there's so much missing context. I'm an AA Male who had a 3.5 and significantly lower LSAT than anything mentioned here. In at H and waitlisted at S.

My advice in a nutshell: aim high with the LSAT, write amazing essays, and apply wherever you want to go. Read my past posts for more detailed advice or PM me with Qs. Gl!
