Hey there! Checking in, I also applied for SEO. I'm definitely attending Berkeley (applied ED) obv not T10, so I hope I qualify for an interview.
How long did it take you to secure housing in the area and where did you ultimately decide to live? Thanks in advance!

It took a bit longer than I expected because the area I was looking to live in was extremely competitive (read: summer intern heavy). Ultimately I was able to find a spot and dealt with everything through phone and email (vetted the guy on FB and LinkedIn). I ended up renting a room in someone's place. I'd say school housing (Stanford, Berk, SJSU, SFSU) for the Bay Area might be your best bet if know know someone there. Otherwise, good ol' Craiglist is what I did.

If I remember correctly, SEO gave a webinar in which they said all interviews must be held in person (as opposed to over skype). Is this a new change? Or is this pretty standard with the organization?
Also, I get the vibe that they aren't gonna go to your city...meaning an applicant in a non-major might have to do a bunch of traveling to reach the interviewers :/

What!? That's definitely new. All interviews used to be conducted via Skype.

This... would not be convenient. Especially with limited vacation days and a job that doesn’t know I’m leaving.

EXACTLY the same here, with vacation day and job haveig no idea I’m leaving, which also limits how many schools I can visit

if a bunch of people sent them let them know it can't work. Maybe they'd change it. maybe. idk.

I think we should wait for interview request emails first and see if it notes whether accommodations can be made. No need to worry now since presumably no one has gotten a request to interview yet

Sounds like the overall process is pushed back a little bit compared to prior years. So far no known interview requests sent out yet. Crossing my fingers for that SEO email to get this process going...

Hypothetical here but what if interview requests went out but not one of us on tls got one?
Haha any who, agreed. I am kinda happy it’s later interviews than usual so i can have some more acceptances under my belt so that I can keep updating my SEO app and hopefully they see these updates in time for interviews

My interview is a waysss away. I wonder if they are waiting to see if we would have decided on a school yet before interviewing
