Anyone else not mention why they're interested in law school in their PS?

I like barely mentioned it in the last line. 2 for 2 so far, since I guess it’s not a big deal.

I've been debating mentioning it briefly at the end as well, but I feel like it just doesn't tie into what the rest of the statement covers.

I feel like it has to be in there. Some how, so people know law school is actually what you want to do.

I feel like it would just disrupt the flow of the personal statement since I was mainly telling a story.

How long is everyones' PS? Mine is just a bit under 2 pages. A lot of schools say 2-3 pages for their PS, do you think a little under 2 pages would hurt?

Keep it a two pages. Most schools only want to. Plus it's better to have it concise and to the point. They read thousands of these.

I'm saying since mine is just a little under 2 pages, should I just keep it at that length? Or add a bit more to make 2 pages?

Keep it that length unless you find something significant to add. Don't just throw in random fluff. Every sentence needs to be calculated.

Thank you! I ask because since most schools ask for 2-3 pages I didn't want them to think I'm incapable of reading instructions since mine would be a bit less lol. How do you like your first year so far?

So far so good. A lot of work but I have a lot of great friends.

Also not writing a separate Diversity statement, my PS covers a lot of what a DS would say and I think it's more effective for me to have one strong essay rather than two weaker ones.

I'm writing one in case I feel the need to submit to schools that I can't write a good why x for. On the fence about submitting both (why x and DS) to target schools.

I'm struggling with my PS, though.

Is there a stigma against submitting a why x and DS? This was my plan for target/reach schools..

Well my top choice asks the C&F question in a way that I have to disclose (speeding ticket).

So I'll have: PS, Why X, C&F, and two LOR's (possibly three). So adding ANOTHER essay might not be the best decision for me. But I'm not sure yet.

I think it depends. I wrote a PS, DS, C&F/Grade Addendum, and Why X for one my top choices that I just got accepted to. If it adds, it adds. But I think it requires being judicious as well, and less generally is more.

Checking in!
MA female, went to a top 10 public university, 3.4-3.5 GPA. 3 years work experience in the immigration law field.
Got a shitty June 17 LSAT score, hoping to improve that by December LSAT. Not too enthusiastic about applying to law schools in December, but it is what it is. I do not want to wait another year.
It's been a difficult journey, friends. I hope we all get into badass schools.

For people who wrote the optional essays for Stanford did you choose to write two different topics or just one. I wrote a good one for the topic about 3 songs but I'm unsure if I should write another because I don't think it'll be as good.

I wrote two. Three songs and three books. I don't think it'll hurt to only submit one. You only want to present your best work.

Anyone else get an email from Columbia saying to meet them at the forum? It might just be a generic email but idk :)

I’d just say think of where you would want to practice it, whether in a big firm or in house, maybe?

But I think you just inadvertently gave me the next poll topic :P
