Well, you can't really do anything about it now; make sure you focus on what you can control. For what it's worth, I've heard that the evidence regarding multitakes for Yale is spotty and there are retakers that did get into the school (if you fish through TLS you can find some posts that support both of these points). It is so difficult to know in this case given the other potential confounds (e.g., low acceptance rates)--unless you heard it from someone on admissions--that it doesn't seem that it does much good to worry about it. You'll apply and let the cards fall where they may; if you'd like some more complete (and knowledgeable) advice though, go to "chance me". In any case, good luck!das_Gesetz wrote:Checking in. AA Male

Damn, makes you wonder what the FBI/NSA can do!:) Thanks for the big ups--hopefully, this cycle turns out well for us bothKENYADIGG1T wrote:I'm 99.999% sure I know who you are (we have a mutual friend who postdocs at Princeton). Anyways, stats:
black male, first gen.
3.75 UGPA
175 (Sept 2017)
Also "some softs", I guess (I don't know enough about the lingo to know what sorts of things are included here). And I'll have a PhD from Stanford by the time I would be entering... I don't know if that matters for these things.
Haven't decided where I'm applying yet (I plan on deciding over the next week),but I'm thinking that I should apply to 5-8 schools. The money situation might dictate that since I haven't really gotten any app fee waivers. Although I have a couple schools in mind to which I would like to apply, I really am not clear about which schools I should pick as ones where I have a pretty decent shot of acceptance. Also, finances are important as I am a poor graduate student (gettin' killed by Navient each month).
I'll spend about the next month or so (maybe a lil' more) drafting application materials to submit. I wish you all more than luck and am glad to have discovered this resource!

My friend (Latina) retook the lsat and did a 164 to 169 jump and was accepted with lucrative scholarship. Just explain in the addendum why the previous testing experiences weren't the greatest for you and you should be finedas_Gesetz wrote:Checking in. AA Male

Took the Florida make up September LSAT and finally got results yesterday!
Really want a full scholarship! Crazy about the idea of graduating without debt. Applying to T6 and a couple other T14s

Noticed you went from 149 to 167 in a similar predicament. What helped you in getting your score almost 20 points higher than your first test?AaronCarter wrote:Checking in

AA male here.
Got all of my applications in except for 3 that haven't opened yet (including USC Hastings, which let me fill out the whole application, but won't let me submit until 10/1...)
Not sure what to do with myself now that applications are in and I have nothing concrete to focus on, haha.
I did get an acceptance call from UCLA, so at least I know I can go to *a* law school, which is a relief.
If you're okay with sharing, what are your numbers?

I'll talk just on quality of life, vibe etc because we all already know the differences in ranking and programs etc.
I preferred NYC to Chicago by far. Within NYC I preferred NYU to Columbia because of the vibe I got on campus and the energy and things to do on that side of Manhattan vs the morning side heights/Harlem area around Columbia. Law school is going to be a lot of work and I want to live somewhere fun with lots to do right outside. I know realistically that if fun things are half an hour away they're not going to happen in law school lol.
UChicago was beautiful as a campus but is a 30-40 min ride from downtown and felt very secluded. I did my undergrad at a school with a similar feel and am not looking for the vibe I got there, very prestigious of course but I didn't see myself being happy there as easily. Northwestern had a very unimpressive building but was in the downtown loop area of Chicago which is appealing relative to uChicago

Re: URM 2017-2018 Cycle Thread
Hey! So I thought I would check in the first day this thread went live, but that was clearly delayed, not too unlike most of my app process right now...
Stats:
Latina K-JD
GPA: 3.5-3.7 (still waiting for transcript reports to process)
LSAT: December
Dream Schools: Top New York and Chicago schools. I'll probably try to apply all across the T-14 but I'm seriously struggling with funding these apps and schools haven't been replying to my fee waiver requests... :/
Anyway, I'm so happy & grateful this space exists. I'm truly hoping we all get the acceptances we want, and more than that, I hope we never doubt how much we deserve these opportunities.
