Lol, understandable. The experience we could gain would be worth it though, for sure!azaleafire wrote:Oh definitely. And it's definitely worth missing it for, but I had a brief moment of "aw."brinicolec wrote:

Applied mid-/late-November, got the interview invite the second week of January, interviewed a few days after that (because a lot of the times are crazy early -- I think because the interviewer lives in London -- but there was a reasonable time open for a few days later).uhwrestler wrote:about how long after applying did you guys get a interview invite?

Do the interviews still involve reading an article and answering questions on it? I just received my interview request and tell you to have a pencil and paper - is that to take notes on what you've read?

I had a pen and paper and didn't use it. I did have notes about the different firms in front of me though, which was useful.

has anyone applied for SEO and then submitted their scholarship essay later? My app is ready to go, but the scholarship essay is taking me some time.

This is what I'm planning on doing. I can't imagine them not taking your scholly essay as long as its before the deadline to apply which is February 1, 2017 according to their website.20171lhopeful wrote:has anyone applied for SEO and then submitted their scholarship essay later? Previous cycle's interviews aren't at all representative of the new interview format. If you've interviewed for any law schools yet, I'd say that's your best prep because (at least for me) the interview was similar to the interviews I've had for schools. The main difference is that you need to know at least a little about some of their partner firms.beantheshadow wrote:Is there a bank of questions from people who've interviewed before? I don't think it's bad. However time-wise having two firms that you have a series of really solid reasons for being interested in, as opposed to for example four which you can only speak to one point for each I think makes a difference.lnsl123 wrote:

Edit: but I had notes in front of me that had info about all the firms I had researched and had marked the ones that most interested me in case I needed to know more.

I truly love all the support I am seeing from fellow URMs this year. Thanks, brinicolec for making this thread! I have a few quick questions for those who have applied and interviewed:
1) Can the resume be more than a page? Even using the exact template with 10 pt. font I cannot cut mine shorter than a page and a half.
2) Are you asked to explain your locations, specifically your 2nd choice, during the interview?
Thanks!

1) im not sure about the resume being more than one page. I would recommend keeping it at one thoughlula43 wrote:I truly love all the support I am seeing from fellow URMs this year. Thanks, brinicolec for making this thread! I have a few quick questions for those who have applied and interviewed:

I'm also not sure about the resume. Locations, yes. They ask why you want to go to ___. If your second choice is located somewhere differently than your first, I'd imagine that they'd like to know why.lula43 wrote:I truly love all the support I am seeing from fellow URMs this year. Ohhh, I see. I assumed that "Other option?" was a request to chose a second location in the event there is an abundance of people who want to be in one place or something like that. I will just list my preference twice. Thanks a lot!brinicolec wrote:I'm also not sure about the resume. Locations, yes. They ask why you want to go to ___. They don't ask you to explain your second location that you listed on your application. That's just for if they happen to not have somewhere to place you in your first location; although, my understanding is that where you get placed is mostly dependent on what firms are asking for.
I thought you were saying if you chose a second firm in a different location!

Re: 2016-2017 SEO Corporate Law Applicants (Summer 2017)
Finished my interview earlier! I think it went great! Pretty excited.
Questions I was asked
Why Law?
Why SEO is a good fit?
Describe two partner firms you'd want to work for?
Name a time you've made a difficult decision, what was your thought process and the outcome?
Feel free to PM for any additional details.
From past threads I read it looks like for those admitted there is usually an additional interview? Is that correct?
