yup, with that in mind, we should probably just add that SEO is a two interview process to the OP for future URMs

Anyone have any idea how many spots are available in smaller markets like Atlanta?

It sounded to me like this is only because they hired a new program director, not because it's now a two-part interview process.

guys make sure you check the timezone of your interview.....i noticed that i scheduled for april 2 12pm central time but my confirmation scheduled me for april 14 5pm pacific time which is actually two hours behind where i live......so just make sure you guys check the time zone because it might have changed on the conformation.

+1 the email just sounded like there's a new director who wants to speak with everyone before she makes decisions, which makes sense.. if she's the final say on the application decisions, she probably wants to make sure she knows who she's saying yes to?

Also random thought - I was planning on putting down my seat deposit like... this weekend after I finished my last visit. So will I now have to wait until after this second interview to get a decision?

I have the impression that the program is administrated sloppy so I'm not necessarily surprised. Well, at least the application and interview process.

Are you a k-jd? I assume. A k-jd with limited experiences would not have noticed.

I've had multiple interviews before for various prestigious and non prestigious programs.

I honestly felt that the hiring process at best buy was many levels above SEO. My only hope is that the training isn't just as lackluster.

But bby only paid $9.

...I've been out of college and working for a while so your assumption is wrong.

I haven't even interviewed with SEO yet but unfortunately I've applied to jobs and college-level fellowships that were generally unprofessional (like an hour late to a Skype interview -_-). I set my interview with SEO early in case it runs over/they are late.

My bad, didn't mean to jab at you. I'm on mobile, and it added a period after assume. I was assuming why a kjd would not notice. I wasn't try to call you a k-jd.

Still did, but it's ok. It's not like you went through my posts to figure out I wasn't (which would have been kinda creepy).

I'm not surprised that SEO is unprofessional tbh since they're a "program" for graduate programs which I've noticed tend to be understaffed and have a large volume of applications. At least it cannot be as bad as waiting an hour for a Skype interview despite setting up the interview in a specific time and time zone...and not even getting the program.

My interviewer tried to reschedule the interview an hour before we were supposed to have it, I told her I couldn't as I had work that made it impossible, so instead she was just late and cut the interview time in half. I do think they are just understaffed but also they aren't the most professional. Even the way she was emailing me about changing the time seemed very unprofessional, and she even came off a bit rude because I couldn't accommodate her last minute request.

Could you elaborate? For what it's worth, my interview was horrible, and I got the very strong impression that the interviewer had zero interest whatsoever in interviewing me, which didn't exactly inspire confidence. Also, the lack of detail regarding the admissions process and the program itself. I know they're re-vamping things this year, and I haven't had much interaction with the coordinators otherwise, but I'm interested to know other people's experiences and impressions thus far.
I'm glad it wasn't just me, I felt like i was boring her to death, like there was not one follow up question she just asked and moved on no matter what my answer was...

Jajaja, Yup same feeling here. It felt like one of those interviews where they have already filled the spot and you're just there to make it look like it wasn't an inside hirer. I've been on the other side of an interview, and I have always tried to engage and give due respect to all the candidates.
I was somewhat insulted afterwards.

Had this been an interview for a mom and pop place, I wouldn't mind. But these people claim to be top tier, require a test score be submitted, a personal statement, resume, and often require acceptance to a top school. So yea, bad taste.

The way I read the email it sounds like you will get notice a few days after the second interview whether you're in or not.

Yeah that all sounds really bad/makes me really excited for my interview now.

I guess after this cycle is over, it'd be good to ask for an anonymous survey to talk about these issues without it penalizing any of us.
