I've seen in some of the other threads that some of them had to email again, because they expired. Shooting them an email never hurts. Most of them respond within 24 hours and are really cool about it.

Thanks! Omg omg, today the ideas have been flowing out of me for my PS. It's my third revision of my second PS lol but I still feel like I have so much I need to cut and word better. But It feels good finally having something coherent on paper that I actually like.

Any one planning on applying to SEO? Any tips that anyone has heard about?

I'm planning on it for next cycle.

There was a great thread that had some tips I think around here. Let me see if I can find it, and I'll post it.

I'll be sure to share my experiences this cycle if you two are interested then. The whole thing seems unpredictable. I'm worried that I've shown little interest in corporate law to merit an acceptance into the program.

I'd be really grateful and excited to hear about your experiences. I've heard it seems quite unpredictable and I worry myself about the same issue. (Not having shown much interest in corporate law)

Thank you for sharing - Good luck !

Yes, please do! Yeah based on what I've read on here it seems like it is more unpredictable than admissions. There are some great resources on here to help prepare for the interview though so that's a plus

HaveMercy wrote:What are you all doing with Why X essays? Should I bother writing them or just apply as early as possible without them?

I'm writing them for every school that I actually want to go to (HYS, Columbia, NYU, and Cornell for Yield protection) and then for the schools I'm applying to for scholarship negotiations I'm not going to bother because I suspect they will sense the bs.

I think they are worth writing as they don't take that long and can only help if you find meaningful reasons why you want to attend. For me, there is just no reason I can make up and write about in a believable way why I want to go to GT. So I'm probably going to forgo writing one.

Get them done and still apply early man. Most of mine are going to be a page.

When I am asking schools for fee waivers should I put my stats in the email? Seems pretty douchey. Lol

Definitely put your stats, it's not douchey at all lol. That's how I usually frame the section where I put my credentials:

LSDAS GPA:

LSAT Score:

LSAC Number:

Since I attend a HBCU, they probably assume I'm a URM. Aside from that, most places are really cool about giving them out because you took the time to ask, or your credentials are what they are looking for. So always put your stats! But that's just my opinion of course lol.

Is 11 sized font pretty standard for a personal statement? With it I am about a page and three quarters and am really satisfied with my PS. If I put it to 12 then it goes into the second page. Trying to keep it under two pages.

According to Dean Meeker over in the Spivey thread, these are the standards: "1 inch margins, double-spaced, 11-point Times New Roman (or similar) font. Do create a header with your name and LSAC number and generic title (i.e., Personal Statement)."

What is the upside in applying to law schools that you more than likely will not attend? Example: Planning on working in Texas and applying to schools like UCLA, Berkeley, Cornell, and etc.

People swear by scholarship negotiations, but I think it truly depends. I'm no expert, but I would not waste a ton on application fees to schools you really have no interest in, it makes things more stressful. Have you researched how well those schools would place in TX? Or are you actually interested in those schools?

I was interested in UCLA, Berkeley, and a few other schools, but it seems like most students who attend these schools do not want to work in Texas. The TLS consensus is that any T14 school will do well with placement back in Texas. However, I am just skeptical about attending any elite school if less than 10 students and in some cases 5 would come back to Texas

It's a 0L big law internship during the summer before you enroll in law school. Pretty cool

URMs who are entering their first year intern/work at a top law firm, usually in either NYC, DC, LA, SF, (Chicago I think). Its generally considered the best thing a URM can do. Many SEO internships lead to summer associateships and then job offers and provide connections with the URM community.
