I know what you're doing, but, honestly, our campus sucks. It's a random assortment of mostly ugly buildings, and even the good-looking ones (Langdell, Austin) have no common theme that ties them together. But having gone to Yale for undergrad, I can say that the Yale Law School building is magnificent. Cathedral-like, really.23fulltimecowboys wrote:1. Yale

yeah, it was just a stupid way to add my $0.02 to the "this matters way less than almost everything else" column. sorry, everyone.

I think it matters more than people will let on. Many students' happiness and in turn, the quality of their work, is at least partially influenced by their surroundings. Is it the most important thing? No. But it's not any stupider than debating a difference of 2-3% in biglaw placement or pointing out the number of supreme court clerks from a certain school.23fulltimecowboys wrote:yeah, it was just a stupid way to add my $0.02 to the "this matters way less than almost everything else" column. sorry, everyone.

edit: so that i can pretend to add something useful, i took a tour of penn a little while back and the renovations are really terrific.

I guess it depends on what you like.lsbm3 wrote:do any lower tier schools have nice campuses? If so which ones
Boyd (73ish) has a nice campus if you like the desert. There's trees on half, grass all over, and a good view of the surrounding mountains. The gym is only a couple years old, and you can get a great view of the strip from the running track upstairs. The buildings are about half newer, and run the gamut from 'fairly nice' (the student union) to blech (WRI/BEH). The law school itself is only about 5 years old, so it's in great shape if not an architectural wonder.
Good locale, too - about 5 minutes from the strip, virtually across the street from the airport, and within an hour of mountains on either side or Lake Mead.

Re: Best Law School Campus
My two cents:
The schools I've visited are: Yale, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Columbia, Penn, GW, Boston U, Northwestern, Chicago, UWash, Seattle U
My favorite (aesthetically): NORTHWESTERN. Specifically, the law library. It has several stories of glass windows looking out on Lake Mich. And I don't go there, so I'm not a troll.
Other school of note: Yale. But only Yale, not New Haven. That place is a dump. I was there one night, and there were two arsons and a drive-by.
Least favorite (architecturally): Columbia. That being said, ugrad campus is phenomenal.
One last thing: I go to UW undergrad. I have to agree with those who have previously posted in saying that the law school building isn't the best, but it's right on the main campus, which has some great views. And it doesn't rain nearly as much as you'd expect.

Stanford has the best overall campus in America than I have seen (never been to Princeton or Pepperdine) ... I've never been inside SLS, but I'd imagine that it is nice as well.
Here are a few of my pics from when I visited Stanford (the last one is SLS):

From the lower-tier, regional schools, FSU is beautiful. Too bad that it's still FSU.
Boalt is not very good in terms of its immediate campus, obviously, but the Berkeley campus as a whole is pretty nice.

I'm assuming we were talking strictly about law school campuses, and SLS is meh. Otherwise, CLS and UChicago would definitely be getting some mentions even though their LS buildings area nothing to look at.superflush wrote:Being sarcastic Helmholtz?Helmholtz wrote:Yeah, can't beat this:superflush wrote:Probably because everybody already knows its the best campus. Re: Best Law School Campus
Okay, maybe that is fair. As I said, I've never been inside the SLS building ... and if it is "meh," than that is a shame, because the rest of the campus is really great. I kind of take into consideration the whole campus (if the school is on a larger campus).Helmholtz wrote:I'm assuming we were talking strictly about law school campuses, and SLS is meh.
