Which Law School should I attend and why

I did not do amazingly well on the LSAT however I managed to get into these schools: University at Albany, University at Buffalo, Hofstra, New York Law, Pace and Syracuse Law.

I plan on studying Immigration Law. My friend who is an immigration lawyer did tell me that where you go is not as important for immigration law as it is for other law careers. However I still want to go to a good school (out of the ones I got into). Any advice?

The total cost of attendance is a big factor, especially for immigration law. Where are they at each school?

What about CUNY? It is cheap and more geared towards public interest.

I would avoid New York Law at pretty much all costs.

You’ll need to provide your total cost of attendance for each to get any helpful advice.

Cost is not a factor in my decision. I see no reason to add that info

Because only 50% of their class gets Law jobs and only 58% pass the bar. That is bad.

You are being asked about cost because you should not be taking out large loans for any of those schools. If your parents (or some other financial source) are financing your entire education then to each his own.

I did not ask for help in the financial department because I do not need any advice on that. I will be able to finance my education just fine wherever I go. I simply wanted to get opinions on which law school was the best out of where I got accepted. Thanks for the advice on NYLS.

If you have the approximately three hundred thousand dollar cost, investing it in the stock market would be a better alternative than any of the schools you mentioned. Research them yourself on Law School Transparency.

CUNYs better than all of those...

Tuition is $15,000, and get a sweet place in LIC.

Don’t go anywhere. If you do go anywhere, it should be CUNY as the above poster said.

If you want to do immigration law the best case scenario is that you will likely be making about 45K at a public interest organization or you will have to start your own practice right out of law school (assuming you have the capital to do so). Immigration law is not a very lucrative field unless you are working for a larger firm doing corporate visa applications (which out of these schools is a pipe dream).

Those choices are pretty much slim pickings. IMHO: Given that you’ll be in LS for three years, select the geographical LS location that is best to your liking.
