W&L $38k scholarship/yr vs UGA $8k scholarship/yr Forum

Granted, I am still awaiting word from BC, BU, Fordham, Bama, and GW...

UGA undergrad 3.3gpa and 165 lsat.

Atlanta/SE market most likely preferable.

The tuition to attend UGA or W&L is basically the exact same with the scholarships offered and COL is about the same as well.

UGA seems like a good option, especially if I want to practice law in Atlanta, however, W&L apparently has a strong alumni base and is ranked 26(reason for the jump in rankings??) vs 32 for UGA.

Emory’s apps closed in March, and he/she hit their Emory’s LSAT floor of 165, but with that GPA they’re a WL at best.

That being said, you’d find a strong argument that UGA dominates the state, and coupled with their strong alumni network, is the best choice for OP.

OP, are you in-state tuition + $8k/year? If that’s the case, then UGA is a no-brainer for ATL. Talk to Roseboro and make it clear how much you love UGA and I beat you can get higher with that LSAT score.

Actually if you look at LSN 165 & 3.3 almost all get into Emory as long as they applied prior to Feb/March

Emory is not even close to the dominant school in the area, and considering its outrageous cost if you plan to stay in the SE it would be a mistake to attend without serious $$$$$

W&L has a strong alumni base that can get you into some different markets (mostly in the south, Nashville, Birmingham, Charlotte) if you have the right grades. UGA is going to be strong if you know you want to be in Georgia. A W&L dergree IMO is a bit more portable around the south east due to that alumni network. If you're looking for BIGLAW you're going to need to be 20-25% + Journal/Moot to have a shot from either school (ATL Biglaw might need 15% or better from UGA to have a more sure shot)
