Top 30 Law School

After reading all these posts I often see the term top 20 thrown around. I want to know how much worse it would be to go to a top 30. In particular, a school ranked #30. I am a URM candidate with a 3.7 and 154. I know my LSAT is low but I cannot retake. I am waitlisted at multiple T14 schools but I have my doubts. Is top 30 still good for someone who is not interested in Big Law? I have received a scholarship to this school as well.
Thanks for the advice!!

Don't worry about the rankings. They are meaningless. Do you have ties to this T30's geographic region? Could you see yourself practicing there long-term? How much will it cost for you to go there and what type of job do you want coming out of it? What is your expected income coming out of the school?

Or, in essence:
In order to receive the best feedback in this forum, please provide as much of the following information in your original post as possible:

-The schools you are considering
-The total Cost of Attendance (COA) of each. COA = cost of tuition + fees + books + cost of living (COL) + accumulated interest - scholarships. Here is a helpful calculator.
-How you will be financing your COA, i.e. loans, family, or savings
-Where you are from and where you want to work, and other places where you have significant ties (if any)
-Your general career goals
-Your LSAT/GPA numbers
-How many times you have taken the LSAT

Damn, which T-14s are you waitlisted at? I am also a URM with a 3.7 but a 157 and the only T-14s I applied to are Harvard, Cornell, UChicago, Northwestern, and Duke.

Have you seen any movement yet? Also a URM interested in those schools!

Just went under review at UChicago today, but other than that haven't heard from any of the T-14 yet. Forgot but I also applied to Duke lol. Have you applied?

I've already taken the LSAT twice and I am leaving the county soon.
I am from the T30s area and so is my family.
Money is not an issue so I am not even looking at that as a deciding factor.
Income coming out is also not an issue as long as I love what I do.
I'm thinking public interest.

If you’re spectacularly wealthy so you don’t care about cost of school or income as a lawyer then just go wherever.

After the T13, all schools are regional so if you want to do local public interest then just go to school where you want to work. The rankings really don’t mean anything after the T20. You’d have an easier time getting a job in Chicago doing PI from Loyola-Chicago (#82) than Alabama (#26). My guess is most people in Chicago view Loyola as a better school than Alabama.

If you want to do BIGPI (ACLU-type orgs) then you’d be better of going to a T13.

I am not sure what leaving the county has anything to do with your decision. That’s confusing.

I would check with what the law school has to offer in terms of the area that you are interested in and how they can help jump start your career. For example what kinds of clinics do they offer? What are their stats for job placement? Things like that.

If you got into a # 30 Law School I think that’s pretty good with your LSAT which is about average. It’s certainly very low for a top tier school. God luck.

Update: I was invited to interview at Cornell on Monday, completed it today!
