Duke v. Columbia
I am fortunate enough that I will not have to take out loans to pay for law school so incurring debt will not be a problem but obviously do not want spend more money unnecessarily.
My question then is the higher sticker price of Columbia worth it compared to Duke? At the moment I am not sure exactly what area of the law I am interested in and can easily see myself defaulting to NYC big law. Both schools seem to do pretty well in terms of big law and clerkships but I was wondering if Columbia's slight advantage or prestige is truly worth what I assume will end up being a much higher CoL etc or if debt is not an issue then the higher ranked school is a no brainer and I am overthinking things?

I mean, if you're choosing b/w sticker for both, then yeah I'd choose Columbia. But I would never actually recommend sticker at Columbia.

If debt doesn't matter then CLS. Yes, you're overthinking. You'll fit in great

If costs is not at all an issue then Columbia. Both are great schools and can get you NYC biglaw, but I'd go Columbia on this one.

Columbia is worth it if you aren’t accruing debt. It will make your life easier in terms of employment and its one of the most fun places to go to school.
