If cost is the same, totally duke. I say that as someone who had multiple friends target Miami firms at oci and get offers. In fact, Duke has an early interview day in Miami specifically. As long as you have some ties to south Florida, and given the number of people I know who wanted Miami and got Miami, I would strongly support Duke as a way to get to Miami. But you are going to need ties, regardless whether Duke or Michigan. Given you have ties, and Duke is the big name in the southern market that has a legitimate pipeline into Miami, I think this is a no brainer.

I would do Duke. I'm pretty sure that, anecdotes aside, Miami biglaw is very difficult to get basically from anywhere (given the small number of SAs) so I'd be prepared to hustle your ass off and think about what backup options you'd be ok with.

Duke is proving to be the better school, although the two will remain close. At equal scholarship you should choose where you'd rather be and where you feel more comfortable.

With Miami as your objective Duke is the better choice for sure.

Geographically seems to make sense.

If you loved Michigan that much when you visited, email admissions, explain your situation, and have them hook you up with some MLaw alums in Miami. They'll give you an honest answer.

Best of luck!

Duke is a smaller school, so math

and what does "stronger longer" mean? Duke's has had better numbers over recent years. If you're referring to US News, who cares...there's really no difference between 8 and 10.
