I'd do Cornell here since you prefer NYC (and the cost).

Cornell...you're right to steer away from IP, would be super difficult if not impossible without a stem background

Without a science degree, you can still do IP law, just not patent prosecution. There's copyright law, trademark law, IP litigation, etc.

Sun v. Snow...

I'm only talking about weather since you mentioned being willing to deal with snow for 3 years. I've been in the SF Bay Area and Ithaca. And while I personally love the cold and snow, I would choose the SF Bay Area over Ithaca any day. For me the quality of life matters and I rather study and workout outdoors. But if I preferred to be indoors anyway I think Cornell is prettier and the school has cool rock climbing. :wink:

Cornell is 30k cheaper, you view the California and New York markets equally with a slight preference for New York, and Cornell has slightly better employment statistics.

I think Cornell wins by a pretty good margin here.
