Professional and non-professional, I would think, at least. I would want to include solo too, and maybe all part time work (pt/st definitely, right? what kind of work is that?) work?Nebby wrote:What categories does underemployed consider? Right now I just included unemployed.

I wouldn't assume this. Maybe at top schools like Northwestern but not lower ranked schools.Nebby wrote:I assumed most professional are dual JD/MBA who went into business?guybourdin wrote:Professional and non-professional, I would think, at least. I'm only posting underemployment stats for T14Rigo wrote:I wouldn't assume this. Re: Class of 2016 Employment Statistics by School
I assume they're paralegals or starbucks shift managers. NU, which has a decent-sized cohort of JD/MBAs (~20/yr, I think?) has only reported 3 ft/lt professional positions in the last 4 years. NU's website basically says they go into JD advantage work if they don't become lawyers.Nebby wrote:I assumed most professional are dual JD/MBA who went into business?guybourdin wrote:Professional and non-professional, I would think, at least. so, obviously, I don't understand the difference b.t professional and non-professional positions, but I think the difference is negligible.

Oh okay. If that's the case idk how useful noting underemployment would really be.Nebby wrote:I'm only posting underemployment stats for T14Rigo wrote:I wouldn't assume this. I know you got pissed when people suggested this last year, but can we do T20 this year especially with the shakeup?
I think choosing between T13 and T20 is a common enough decision to warrant a simple %change in employment stats calculation.

LST underemployment is: Not Seeking + Short-Term Jobs + Part-Time Jobs + Non-Professional Jobs + Pursuing Another Degree + School-Funded.
Professional positions just aren't counted in either employment or under-employment.

As someone who is strongly considering WUSTL, I'm just wondering if you can explain what you mean by this?Hikikomorist wrote:Honestly, if any law school deserves to be rewarded for its admissions policies, it's WUSTL.Rigo wrote:The rumor that WUSTL is up to 40+% (I've seen 44% stated) or something is circulating. Per The LST Report Methodology page:Nebby wrote:What categories does underemployed consider? Right now I just included unemployed.
"The Under-Employment Score
Our Under-Employment Score represents graduates who are underusing their skills and credentials. These graduates have not started a professional career, legal or otherwise. It is composed of unemployed graduates seeking work, those in any part-time or short-term job, those in non-professional jobs, those pursuing another advanced degree, and those in school-funded jobs that do not qualify as long-term, full-time bar passage required, J.D. advantage, or professional. Again, what follows is the step-by-step process of creating the score, as well as the relevant ABA definitions.
Score Calculation
(Unemployed – Not Seeking + Short-Term Jobs + Part-Time Jobs + Non-Professional Jobs + Pursuing Another Degree + School-Funded) / All Graduates"
Edit: sorry didn't mean to pile on. I didn't see all the responses to this until after I posted.

Hello bitter_melon. Meet Hikko. He has a very distinct shtick where he is obsessed with test scores and test scores only. WUSTL pays out the big bucks for LSAT scores and is very splitter friendly (thus prioritizing Hikko's obsession).bitter_melon wrote:As someone who is strongly considering WUSTL, I'm just wondering if you can explain what you mean by this?Hikikomorist wrote:Honestly, if any law school deserves to be rewarded for its admissions policies, it's WUSTL.Rigo wrote:The rumor that WUSTL is up to 40+% (I've seen 44% stated) or something is circulating. you cannot assume that JD advantage/"professional" is underemployed at the T14. most of those folks are consultants, bankers, or lobbyists.

Even at a school like UCLA, the median salary numbers for the graduates going that route were pretty solid.jbagelboy wrote:you cannot assume that JD advantage/"professional" is underemployed at the T14. most of those folks are consultants, bankers, or lobbyists.
