So, Duke has better numbers than UVA (assuming that math was right), Cornell, and Harvard?

looks like 74.4% in 101+ firm gigs & fed clerkships combined

184 graduates
127 in biglaw = 69%
10 in clerkships = 5.4%

(+7.8% increase from the 2015 #s)
There are definitely 11 federal clerks right now, and I wasn't aware any of them were "short-term." I wonder what's up with that.

Oh well. At least we're not c/o 2015.
I'm still counting that short-term clerk as there is a chance they will end up in a Biglaw firm anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it's actually an 11.4% increase according to my arithmetic. Either way, it's an upward trend. If we count that short-term clerkship, it would be a 12% increase.

I'm consistently taken aback by just how large H's class is.

I don't see how you're getting 11.4%?

And I don't really care whether we count the short-term clerk. I'm willing to bet that someone just filled out the form the wrong way. But I also know one of the 11 didn't have a 2L SA, so not guaranteed they get biglaw afterwards.

It's possible, but in my ego-driven defense, UVA numbers aren't out yet to prove that. :P

Curious to see how these numbers compare to Mich. and UVA.
UVA is not "live" yet, but playing around with the URL got me the link

http://www.law.virginia.edu/pdf/aba/2016employment.pdf

330 graduates
206 in biglaw = 62.4%
48 in clerkships = 14.5%

BL + FC = 76.9% (+6.9% from last year's...although I now realize that last year's thread had #s rounded to the nearest whole number. whatevs)
Nvm, missed this

All right, let's just get rid of that datum then. Here are my numbers.

Cornell Employment Stats Year 2015 2016
Biglaw (+101 firms) 116 127
federal clerkships 7 10
subtotal 123 137
total fully legal employed 164 166
total graduates 183 184

"quality" job percentage 67.2% 74.5%
percentage employed in legal jobs 89.6% 90.2%

Divide 137 by 123 and you get 1.1138. Multiplying a number by a 1 with decimals after it increases it by a percentage, which are the first two decimal points. In this case, it is 1.1138 (you count the 3 as the decimal point in the percentage.

I don't know where you see that. The Duke numbers has 15.6% fed clerkship, and the UVA has 14.5%. So its higher for Duke in combined numbers and clerkship numbers too.

Oh. Yeah, we don't do it like that. Like if there's an increase from 2% to 3%, we say it increased by 1%, not 50%.

Technically, you should say that it increased by one percentage point, 1% indicates that something increased from 100-101, not from 2-3, which would be 50% but one percentage point.

For some reason, it really bothers me that Nebby put U of Penn and not just Penn. Absolutely triggered.

ETA: Nebby is based for listening to my petty criticism and changing it to Penn.

Yeah, I know there's a more technical way to phrase it, but we do whatever the method is in the OP.

yeah, literally look at the first post of this thread. I would bet real money Duke's clerkship numbers is even higher next year. They hired two new clerkship people who have really done a wonderful job the past few years and now are really getting moving. Poor UVA's prestige (jk what prestige now that ol duke has better placement numbers in both categories).
