Texas loves Duke/UVA. Keeping it in the South.

After talking to a lot of students and graduates from both schools we decided on Michigan!:) I was mostly worried about their ability to place in Texas, but they do plenty wellnyu2019maybeplease wrote:Michigan sends plenty of people to Texas, offers are close. Visit schools, see which one you like better. If you can't decide, save a few bucks and go to whichever you negotiate the most from.

Apparently they have $120k back in the pot.TasmanianToucan wrote:According to UVA they are totally dry. Just a few points and you're looking atHarvard$$$$ at CCN. Not that these options are bad. Choose Michigan, because it's cheaper.
Personally I think UVA is probably worth the extra $36k, but that's partially because as a future PI warrior there's a decent chance you won't be paying much of it back anyway.
Also, I'll be there, so there's that.
Glad you have made a choice. If you still have Harvard at the back of your mind, I would be seriously looking at the differences in LRAP offering since you're PI focused. Also, I'm presuming you did look at the fellowship offerings from both schools, since they're often a gateway into PI employment? I know UVA will has historically had a large number of Kennedy Fellows (1 year PI fellowships), Does Michigan do the same? That alone would make the cost of attendance just about even.dallinpackard wrote:After talking to a lot of students and graduates from both schools we decided on Michigan!:) I was mostly worried about their ability to place in Texas, but they do plenty wellnyu2019maybeplease wrote:Michigan sends plenty of people to Texas, offers are close.
