DC Area
I am undecided. I got a bit more than half off at Catholic for at least the first year (hopefully all three [top 25%]) and got into American as well. What is my cost benefit on these two?
I am interested in Gov, and Biglaw (hah, if possible) as well as Defense related legal work.

American posts well in government jobs, though a 1/2 scholly at Catholic is a tough choice. Sticker at American? you may want to pass that scholly info to American and see if they would be willing to help you out if you wanted to go there. You may be able to get some money from them.

half-scholly at Catholic contingent on being top quarter is a ridiculous stipulation.

OP, I don't know how expensive catholic is, but i do know American is going to cost u ~60k/year. How would u pay that off?
I would definitely try to squeeze money out of American w/o a top 25% stipulation.

Re: DC Area
I'd say American. That top 25% @ Catholic is pretty ridiculous. I received a similar offer from Catholic (14K/year), but the high cost of tuition (more than American!!) and the stip (especially for a T2), makes me choose WCL over Catholic.

Why is the top 25% stipulation ridiculous? What would a comparable school (like depaul, i suppose) offer differently?

Because it's silly to risk half your tuition on the wager that you will not end up in the top 25% of your class. Because you probably won't.

It's just unbelievably demanding, even some others require top 1/3 and thats difficult not to mention nearly impossible to predict for yourself going in. I'd also ask around and be sure that Catholic doesn't stack sections.Agent Bartowski wrote:Why is the top 25% stipulation ridiculous? Re: DC Area
Why doesn't OP just ask them to waive the top quarter stipulation? It can't hurt to ask. Just like it can't hurt to ask American for some bank.
