Have really gotten behind on applications after my crushing 158 in September... but now that I've got a 165 my spirits are as high as the sky, and I'd like to hear some thoughts about my chances and specific feedback about my short school list

Bio-
LSAT- 158 (September 09) 165 (December 09)
GPA - 3.25
Non-URM
Tennessee resident
Psychology major
Good PS, and LOR's from 2 professors in the Psych department at my UG, and an LOR from my supervisor at my job for 3+ years
Want to stay in the southeast, the farthest I would go is Gainesville, FL, and that is because I've always loved UF and had originally wanted to go to UG there before a major life change occured for me in high school. My mother is also a UF alumni. Not to mention the J.D./Psychology Ph.D dual program Florida offers (one of only seven in the nation, and the only one east of the Mississippi), that I would pursue if admitted to their law school.

Other than UF, I'm not interested in schools outside of TN, GA, and the Carolinas.

Is U of Florida a target for me, or a safety? From reading LSN, it seems that UF rarely rejects 165+, but being out-of state, I wasn't sure. I feel that I could add a very strong "Why UF" statement to my PS that might help me stand out a little more to the admission council

Do you see Emory as a reach or a target for me? What about UNC?

Considering my situation, are there any schools in TN,GA,NC,SC that I should really be considering other than Emory, UNC, UF?

Finally, do my numbers even warrant taking a shot at Vandy?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now on to continue the post-165 festivities!

Same exact numbers as me, very similar schools. Look into these:

UF- IN
UNC- WL
UGA- IN
Wake- IN
Emory- WL/IN
GA State- IN
Tennessee- IN
Vandy- probably out, but hey why not reach

Since we have so many similarities, PM me if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the feedback. Gonna have a hard decision to make, knowing I'm very likely IN at what has always been my dream school (Florida), but UNC and Emory just seem too hard to turn down, if I were to be accepted. Cool that our numbers are identical and looking at the same schools. I might PM you at some point.

Time to focus hardcore on getting my recommenders to get their letters in ASAP... hopefully a friendly "hey I got a 165, write my letter NOWWWWW!!!!1111" will help... hahaha.

As I put the finishing touches on my application, I'm reducing my list to 6 schools that I'll be applying to- UF, UNC, UGA, Emory, Wake, Vandy.

I think you should be in at any south eastern state school. Also, are you from Chatt-town? thats where I'm from and i'm hoping to get into UTK

Yep, Chattanooga. You go to UTC, or are you just from Chatt?

I live in Chattanooga, but I go to school in memphis. Its good to be home for the holidays though. Are you at UTC?
btw...I think you should easily be accepted to Wake Forest. Emory is probably going to be a waitlist, but I don't really see any reason to go to Emory over UGA anyway. As for UNC, I doubt it. Your numbers would be good enough if you were in state, but being out of state will probably make it very hard. I think something like 80% of their entering class has to be from north carolina. Vanderbilt is probably out too, but there's no harm in applying. Other than emory, vanderbilt and UNC though, I think you're good for the southeast. You'll definitely get into Florida, and probably with some scholly money. Also, have you considered University of Alabama? its a top-notch state school and is by far the best law school in the state. If you don't mind working in Bama, there is no better choice.

Yea, finishing up at UTC this spring... I haven't considered Alabama, but will definitely look into it...

Just looked into it and and ummmm ok wow, really?!? 99% bar passage rate, under $20k a year non-resident?!?....wow. Never knew Alabama had such an awesome program. It's definitely towards the bottom of places I'd like to live... Still though, I think I'll apply there too. Thanks for the feedback, man.
