Anyone else going? Where is everyone staying? I just decided to go about 2 hours ago, so I have to make some arrangements pretty fast

I learned a lot, very impressive school. Only worry is it seems it will be a bit crowded and that's pretty much what all the current law students confirmed. Seems like there is so much to get involved with there. But I've already committed so I'm pysched.

I was there as well, besides the rain the day was great. There was a lot i liked, and parts that I didn't. The faculty was great, but the school was a bit like a yellow maze. The students seemed really down to earth, hard working, but laid back. However, they all said that our mock class was much more interesting than a real class, so that was a bit concerning. Other parts I liked included the "family atmosphere" amongst everyone at GW, the opportunities for research with faculty and externships, job prospects, and the career development office. All in all, while I wasn't completely sold, I can see myself there and would be happy.

i went too & was less than impressed. i know this sounds petty, but the school has a very institutional appeal (totally agree about the "yellow maze") that turned me off. i don't know if i can pinpoint exactly what else i didn't like- something just really gave me the feel that gw is prob not a good match for me.

but, everyone else i talked to seemed to be HIGHLY impressed & ready to commit, if they hadn't already.

I echo the institutional feel. It'd be fine if a big school is what you're looking for. I came from a huge undergrad, so I know how to make it work for me, but it definitely takes additional effort. The people seemed nice, but there wasn't anything really that was one-on-one or individualized during the day. There are definite perks to DC though (externships during the school year being one).

If you are visiting, I'd make sure you get the chance to talk to people about clinics, externships, etc and look at the city if you're not familiar with it.

Some interesting points I took note of was when several current students were making comparisons of GW to Georgetown (at several different instances during the day). Basically they put it as GULC being much more competitive (i.e. cut throat), full of gunners, and antetotes about people at GULC stealing and hiding library books, etc. which is what I had heard before. GW seemed much more at ease with lots of fellow student support, a very communal environment, at least for a very big school that GW certainly is. Also I loved the area, in the heart of everything Federal and so much nicer neighborhood than where Georgetown is located, and a true college campus. Now I'm in no way saying GW is better than GULC but it sure seemed like a better place to spend three years, to me anyway.

Anyway, that's what I took away.

It's fine for you disagree but I was giving my honest opinion having visited each school extensively.

But whatever.

Wasn't trying to be rude...its just that before my sister (now a 3L) went to GULC she heard the same things, and found them to be completely untrue. GW's a great school though, glad you had a pleasant experience

Actually I'm glad to know that. Good to hear.

Hi everyone!

I was a student volunteer at GW's preview day and was wondering what those of you who attended thought of the day. More specifically, what did you like/dislike? What could we lose next year to make it even better? What could we maybe add? Did you find there was enough interaction with other prospective students, with current students, and with professors? Did you enjoy the reception and the bar event afterwards in Dupont Circle?

Your feedback is really appreciated as we continue to strive to make the event better for prospective students! Thanks!
