Hey all, I didn't see any threads specifically geared toward the upcoming April ASW and so I was thinking maybe people could discuss things here. I'll start with just a few general questions like:
-is there a travel subsidy?
-is there a way to arrange to stay with current students?
-what are some of the absolute "must see" and "must do" things while people are up there?

Anyway, that's it for me right now...hope it helps others as well...and if I'm barking up the wrong tree then please feel free to ignore the thread...

Woa, dude. Serious flame. I meant this post to help people who don't really know what to do for an ASW (I almost missed the deadline for rsvp if it hadn't been for Goleman, so yea, chill)...if there had been another thread wth this info I would just have gone there.

I was just messing with you. Mostly because I am jealous that you are going to Yale. Don't take it personal.

I've also heard that there is a schedule of events for significant others who are tagging along. Does anyone know if this is true, and if it is, if it's available online?

Last year there *was* a separate schedule for SOs. I think it included Yale campus tours, and a chance to go to various museums/libraries on campus as well. If I remember correctly, the only thing that SOs aren't invited to from the "regular" schedule is dinner @ the Dean's house (there's just not enough space).

I don't know if the schedule has been posted online, but I'm sure if you e-mail admissions they'd be happy to give you details - assuming they've been decided.

UChicago is better than Yale. Anyone want to argue?

No challengers? I'm obviously joking. You should all be so proud of yourselves. I often think of how cool it is that I'm going to UC. I can't even fathom how you all must feel.

Congratulations for getting in to Yale. You can look forward to a lifetime of being embarrassed and apologizing to people for their jealousy. Just say you went to school in New Haven and then no one will call you pretentious.

Were any of you successful in contacting Josie? I sent her a message asking for more information but the email bounced back to me.

Also, I just booked my travel arrangements. I land at 3:20pm on the 23rd. Does anyone want to share a cab to campus?

I emailed her and was able to get a need-based travel subsidy pretty easily. If you want, PM me the address you emailed her at, and I'll tell you if it's the right one.

Never mind! As I was typing a PM to you I recognized that I was misspelling her last name.

did you mean the 22nd? If so and you're landing at Hartford I'll split it with you, most definitely

No, I meant the 23rd. I'm going to skip the morning class opportunities on Thursday. Anyway, see you there!

Just booked my flight today, I think we might be on the same one...PM cause i definitely would want to share a cab...I'm flying direct to Tweed though, so if you're flying to Hartford that might be different.
