Thought I would start another thread for a school I haven't heard anything from yet.

Application complete 10/22.

Haven't heard anything since. Does anyone know anything?

I applied in November, not expecting to hear anything back until January.

Complete 10/30. Haven't heard anything. I imagine we might start hearing soon because wasn't the deadline for Early admission today?

If you check law school numbers, SMU usually doesn't start reviewing applications (or at least making decisions) until at least January. Kind of sucks because I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from them too. One of my top choice schools.

You've gotta be kidding me...I was wondering why it said "Application Received" and thought maybe there wasn'ta complete since I sent it way back on 11/2. I totally missed the stupid single paragraph you have to write. Gosh darnit I'm going to have to drive there after school and bring it to the Admissions department.

Last cycle SMU let in a few auto-admits in right before X-mas, but the bulk of their decision process seems to get really underway in mid-late January.

Speaking from experience as an SMU 1L, and very late admittee, I can assure you that SMU does start accepting people in batches and you will start hearing very soon. I also can assure you that the paragraph of why you want to be at SMU is EXTREMELY important...why else would it be on the application?

The school is great despite the tuition. Give it a visit, you'll fall in love.

SMU is kind of my back-up school.

Just in case I have to stay in the Southwestern corner of Hell, I'd like a good school to go to.

SMU has quickly become one of my top 3. I thought I was a shoe-in but now I'm getting the post-application anxiety.

Because it's not the north.

With that kind of attitude, I think you should withdraw from both UT and SMU. It isn't because everyone in TX drives chevy trucks and wear cowboy hats, but there def. is a "southern" atmosphere here that you either enjoy or absolutely hate. Dallas/Austin aren't as filled with it as other places, but it still lingers.

They dont't have a "Why...." essay on their application this year... or at least I don't think they do. Just the standard PS; though I'm applying PT, which has a "Why PT" component, but I didn't see a "Why SMU"?". (There is a required DS for scholarships, though).

You're supposed to write a "brief paragraph" explaining why you applied to SMU.

I live in Dallas.

I have to have a school local in case I don't get to move.

I'm really starting to get antsy waiting on SMU. Of all the schools i've applied to/been accepted to, SMU fits the best for what I want in a legal education.

Found the "Why SMU" on the app and finally applied last night :).

Sounds like they take forever anyway, so I really don't mind. (I'm applying PT)

I don't think they start mailing decisions until next month.
