Question for all you seasoned veterans out there:

I've pushed my test back twice already, but recently (very recently) I've seen gains, and I'm working my way through the LG bible which is the last piece of the puzzle for me.

I'm doing well on LR and RC, I grasp the questions and feel comfortable answering them but I miss a few every section. and now i'm practicing between a 157 and 162 (two most recent). I know I can probably shave 10 questions off w/ heavy LG practice over the next few weeks but I also think I can tighten up on LR and RC and start to see some gains there.

my question is do you think it's a good idea to push back AGAIN? The first time i pushed back I wasn't prepared at all and barely knew how to approach studying for the test, but the last 3+ months I've been studying intensely. My last test before I started scoring in the 150s and low 160s was a 144 (late october) , and i started at a 146. Now I really think I can gain even more ground. If i score around a 165 does it pay to retake? I don't know how long getting good at LG will take. I just started aggressively studying LG about two weeks ago.

Pushing it back means giving up this cycle. Almost no schools will take february for Fall 2010

Waiting a year may be worth the increase school options and scholarships offered if you do score higher. The other option is to take the test in December, but plan to possibly take it again and postpone your law school attendance.

On your 162 scores, how many questions are you missing from each question type? If mostly LG, then think about doing three logic game sections every day between now and the test. That should put you in decent shape by having you see nearly every game given on a test.

I was going for 2011.

my sections usually look somewhere like this (recently)

4-5 LR, 4-6 RC, Finish two LG game completely then it's random. but LG is going to be fluctuating wildly as i work through the bible.

Every week i'm getting tighter and tighter at LR and RC too though. but the thing is i've pushed back SO MUCh already, i just want to get the god damn thing over with. Even if i get a 165 I feel like I might be shortchanging myself. =\

If you are going for 2011 anyway... why not push back the test day??

Cause I miss going on dates with my girlfriend =(

Have you guys heard of people going from 140s to 170s? I've already improved my score by nearly 20 points, I am not sure if there is generally a ceiling. I have until saturday to push back...

I think you should definitely push it back, especially since you are seeing gains from working through strategy books. As for dates with your gf - you shouldn't be studying so much that you don't have time for anything else!! Push the test back and make a reasonable study schedule. It will pay off if you manage to get above a 170, especially if you aren't applying until next cycle anyway.

Best of luck!

It is almost unheard of to go from 140s to 170s, but not impossible. Do your best then worry about it. I would take it in June next year, but if you are feeling really hot take it feb.

I'm pretty close. Once I make the gains in LG, i'll be scoring in the high 160s. I just don't know if i can shave a couple more off lr and rc... then I'd be in business.

Update:

164: rs 85
161 rs - 79

6 weeks 'till test day. I'm average 2-5 per lr section, and 1-4 rc. i can't seem to finish LG on time though. get the last game with 3 minutes left =(.

6 weeks to pull my score to 170, here's to hoping. thanks for the tips earlier by the way. I ended up pushing back.

You can hit 170 if your logic game section is 0 mistakes. Not hard to do. On the real test you won't get the 0 mistakes, but you will only make 1 or 2. If LG is 0 mistakes, LR is about 4 or 5, and RC is 4 or 5, then you can definately reach your goal.

Set realistic goals per section and you will get what you want.
