Post subject: Why didn't I retake and score higher like everyone else did?

This is a thread for bitching and regretting. If I read one more "I scored a 135 in Sept. and then hit a 178 in Dec!" I'm going to killself.

Reading through the retakers' threads is making me depressed (but congrats, guys!). I actually hit a point or two above my average in Sept. but I feel like my "average" encompassed earlier PTs that I didn't really have a handle on.

In any case, there's nothing I can do now. Anyone with me?

i wouldnt worry about it too much if u were already close to your PT average..Myself like many of the other retakers were way below PT average and finally hit the mark in Dec.

because not everyone else did. If you went from 154 --> 167 wouldn't you want to post about it too? Nobody else in your situation wants to post and gloat, but rest assured there are others like you.

if you hit above your pt average on test day, you should be quite happy.

Only the people who made big jumps are really eager to share their stories. And I was kind of looking for those stories to learn what they did differently in the thread I made. Fact is, most retakers won't score more than a point or two above their previous score and many people's scores actually go down. I've checked the statistics. The info has been posted around here somewhere. I wouldn't feel too bad.

I personally didn't want to be a "retaker" -- somehow I worried taking the test and getting a score would be harder to overcome than not knowing what I would've gotten. I would've done OK and gotten into some decent schools, but I canceled anyway. I really want to do great. I'm re-approaching my entire studying strategy.

I am happy with it honestly, it's more that I'm hungry/bored/annoyed at work right now reading about miraculous retake stories.

I'm very happy for everyone though :D

THis is how I was. Except I was a June taker, soooo it went like 20 point increase June->Sept, then another 20 point increase from Sept->Dec.

So it has been like a 40 point increase since june. /wrists.

Look at the curve. -14, that's the largest curve in years. Obviously many people found the Dec test quite hard...

Definitely harder than September, and overall one of the more difficult tests in the last 10 years. There has been a noticeable change in LR and RC that started June 2009. Still, I'd much rather take a hard test with a loose curve than an easy test with a tight curve. (PT54)

A number of very solid takers missed a ton on that first LR. And Sculptors had hands down the hardest questions I have ever seen on an RC. The only difference a more loose curve should make is a reduction of the factor of luck at the higher ends of the test.
